Sunday Chat – Car Club and a bit of Sewing from From My Carolina Home

This week we had a big event to do with our MINI club. MINI Take the States is a nine day driving event where participants drive across multiple states, stopping each evening along the way for fun activities hosted by local cubs. This year the route took them from Burlington, Vermont down to Greenville, South Carolina. When they reached Asheville, it was our club’s turn. Our local group, the Appalachian Mountain MINIs hosted a concert at a local brewery. Parking in the lot, already MINIs are gathering. Our MINI is the red one. My Sweet Babboo put our AMM ...

Christmas with the MINI Club from From My Carolina Home

This year, we were once again able to spend a weekend with our MINI club at a resort to party, have fun drives and do fun things. The directors chose to bring us back to the Lake Lure Inn where we’ve been before. I posted a lot of pictures and history about the inn two years ago in this post – Christmas at Lake Lure Inn. Settle in for a long and picture heavy post. Arriving in the late afternoon, lots of MINIs were already in the parking lot. Ours is the red one. My Sweet Babboo put the club ...

August Car Club Fun from From My Carolina Home

We’ve had several drives in our beautiful mountains in the past few days. Although the weather is too warm for me in the afternoons, the mornings have been delightful. On this day, we gathered with our Appalachian Mountain MINI group in west Asheville for a nice drive and lunch.

The route took us past lovely pastoral views, with old barns and fields.

With the mountains looming ahead of us, the roads became tree lined and more curvy.

Another barn with two levels was on the right. I didn’t manage to get a photo of the barn quilt block ...

MINIs Elk Mountain Drive from From My Carolina Home

Last weekend, it felt more like we were resuming our normal lives, with a drive planned for the Blue Ridge Parkway and up to Elk Mountain road. It was a joint club drive with both of the MINI clubs where we are members. The two groups were meeting on the BRP at an overlook between them. The overlook was closer for us, so we met them there. We were first to arrive, and too the opportunity to take a photo of the car with mountains in the background. My Sweet Babboo put his wind-up key on the back just for ...

Having a Picnic at the Arboretum from From My Carolina Home

Last weekend, we had a bit of a bright spot in our otherwise isolated lives.  Finding ways to see people safely can be challenge these days.  We planned a picnic with social distance to get a few of our car club buddies together.  Unfortunately, none of our MINI friends we personally invited could make it, but we did have a nice group of new club members come that we enjoyed meeting.  The morning was overcast, and there was a bit of rain, but we knew it would blow over.  The MINIs all parked with spaces between so we could have ...
